Background
Park’N Fly is Canada’s leading off airport parking provider, offering valet and self-park options near major airports nationwide. To make travel stress-free, the Park’N Fly app has become a vital companion for travellers. It lets them reserve, scan, park, pay, and go at the touch of a button. Customers can earn Park’N Fly Rewards and Aeroplan points, save vehicle details for faster bookings, and add payment information before pick-up for a quick, contactless exit.
As travel expectations evolve, the app isn’t just a convenience; it’s a competitive advantage and a key driver of customer loyalty.
The app has made a real difference in cost, time, and effort. It’s easier for our team to manage and a smoother experience for our customers.

The Challenge
By 2023, Park’N Fly’s mobile app was showing its age. Originally built by another vendor in 2015, Whitecap had been brought in to maintain it, but over time the app became increasingly difficult to support and enhance. With separate iOSi.O.S. and Android code bases, every change required duplicate work, longer test cycles, and higher costs.
Meanwhile, customers sometimes experienced inconsistent behaviour between platforms, which created confusion and frustration. Another customer irritation was that the app lagged behind Park’N Fly’s evolving service offerings, such as EVElectric Vehicle charging and car detailing, which were only available on the website.
It also relied on legacy technology that no longer aligned with Whitecap’s Microsoft expertise. Because the original app was built in Swift and Java, there were limited resources within the team who had deep familiarity with the code, slowing updates and fixes. Moving to a modern, unified framework would ensure broader support across the team and prevent bottlenecks.
At the same time, Park’N Fly wanted to do more than just fix bugs and maintain the status quo. They were looking for a trusted technology partner who could stabilize, modernize, and future-proof the app, building efficiency for the ITI.T. team and a smoother experience for travellers.
The Solution
When Park’N Fly partnered with Whitecap on this project, the goal was clear: modernize the mobile app to keep pace with customer expectations while improving performance and scalability.
Building on years of collaboration and a deep understanding of Park’N Fly’s systems, Whitecap was uniquely positioned to take on the challenge. The team focused on simplifying the development process, streamlining operations, and enhancing the overall user experience.
Whitecap’s approach combined technical modernization with practical insight, resulting in a faster, easier-to-manage platform that supports continued growth and service innovation.
Modern Architecture for Greater Efficiency
Whitecap rebuilt the Park’N Fly app from the ground up using .NET MAUI and Blazor, consolidating iOSi.O.S. and Android into a single, scalable code base. This approach eliminated the duplication and inefficiencies of maintaining two separate platforms, while enabling faster delivery and simpler testing.
Together, .NET MAUI and Blazor offer the best of both worlds: the efficiency of a single shared framework and the flexibility of modern web technologies. Developers can build native mobile apps for multiple platforms using familiar web languages like HTMLH.T.M.L., CSSC.S.S., and C#C sharp, streamlining development and reducing long-term maintenance. The result is a cost-effective, agile solution that ensures a consistent, high-performance experience for users across devices.
Designed for a Better User Experience
Beyond the technical rebuild, Whitecap helped Park’N Fly reimagine the app’s user experience. The refreshed design preserved all the core features customers loved, including booking, loyalty tracking, and pre-payment. It now delivers a cleaner, more intuitive interface.
Whitecap’s design team also introduced a new layout for service selection, making it easier for customers to browse and purchase add-ons. The approach proved so successful that Park’N Fly now plans to mirror the same design in its self-serve kiosks.
Whitecap did a great job with the screen designs. They came back with a recommendation on how to present the options, and we loved it! It was really well-thought out.

Faster Enhancements and New Capabilities
The new architecture positioned Park’N Fly to deliver new features faster than ever before.
Early projects included:
- Tiered loyalty program: a major 2024 revamp with improved registration and point redemption.
- EVElectric vehicle charging integration: transitioned from a complimentary add-on to a managed, revenue-generating service.
- Car detailing: added to the app for convenient access to a popular offering previously limited to the website.
By pairing modernization with customer-first design, Whitecap helped Park’N Fly turn its mobile app into a platform for continuous improvement and innovation.
The Impact
While still in the early months post-launch, Park’N Fly is already seeing measurable improvements across development efficiency, customer experience, and business agility.
Faster Delivery and Lower Costs
New feature development and updates now take significantly less time thanks to the unified code base. “Whitecap turned around the detailing services sprint very quickly. And it was under budget, which was a first!” said Pease.
Greater Efficiency and Resilience
With a single platform and a broader pool of developers, Park’N Fly no longer relies on one individual’s expertise to support the app. Testing and deployment are faster, more consistent, and easier for both Whitecap and Park’N Fly’s internal teams.
Enhanced Customer Experience
Whether on iOSi.O.S. or Android, travellers benefit from a smoother, more consistent app experience. The load times are faster, the navigation more intuitive, and there’s now a reliable, touchless process for reserving, dropping off, and picking up vehicles.
New Revenue and Service Opportunities
The integration of paid EV charging and easy access to car detailing expands what customers can do directly from the app, offering both convenience and upsell potential for Park’N Fly.
A Platform for Future Innovation
Park’N Fly now has a flexible, scalable foundation that supports quick adaptation to new services, features, or devices, from iPads to Windows applications, as customer needs evolve.
They’ve never let us down. Whitecap is responsive, organized, and easy to work with. The new app reflects that same spirit of collaboration: efficient, modern, and customer-focused.
IT Director, Park’N Fly
By modernizing the Park’N Fly app, Whitecap didn’t just upgrade software; Whitecap helped transform a vital customer touchpoint into a platform built to grow and adapt to customer and business needs.
What began nearly two decades earlier as ongoing maintenance evolved into a longstanding partnership grounded in trust and technical expertise. From faster updates to seamless add-on services, the modernized app ensures every journey begins and ends with a smoother, smarter experience.
